Legal notice draft

A legal notice is a formal letter from an advocate, sent before a case is filed or while a dispute is still open. It states who the client is, what happened, what is demanded, and the time the other side has to comply.

What the draft contains

The casemate notice layout has the date, the mode of sending, the addressee, the subject, the facts in order, the demand, and the advocate's signature block. Typical demands are payment of a stated amount, vacating a premises, performing a contract, or stopping a stated act. The amount, the dates and the documents have to come from the papers you provide.

Before it is sent

Confirm the addressee's address, the number of days you are giving, and whether a statute requires a notice of a particular length or form. A notice under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act is one of those cases. See the Section 138 notice page for that draft.
